Love Story
A cabaret about the treasure in us all
Penned by Ms Flowers during the pandemic and set against the backdrop of Oslo’s magnificent fjords, sculpture parks and dramatic seasons, Love Story tells the tale of one woman’s journey back home to herself as she liberates herself from a treacherous romance.
The show is written as a traditional 1920s cabaret would have been, and transports us back to a place and era when painter Toulouse Lautrec would have painted dancers in the Moulin Rouge, and Eric Satie began his career as a pianist. The cabaret is the perfect training ground for the newly blossomed artist.
Ms Flowers' poems paint a portrait of a woman finding her voice and feet in a new city and her thrilling original showtunes capture a rawness that will resonate with anyone who has ever had their heart broken. Love Story is a reminder that love comes in many forms and that poetry and music has the power to help us find our way home to ourselves.
Singing of loneliness, longing, love and cats, Ms Flowers is accompanied by a stellar cast of young jazz musicians with Fride Nøstdahl Hjelle accompanying her on the piano and Wei Ting Tseng making magic on the cello.
A custom adaptation of the Love Story has been running at Oslo’s exquisite Sommerro Hotel for over a year, after having debuted in September 2024, where Eleanor has had the honour and joy of performing to sold out audiences on a monthly basis. You can buy tickets for upcoming performances at Sommerro here.
Love Story continues to develop, with the musical ensemble growing and the script, scenery, costumes and performance being refined with every performance. It is Ms Flowers’ intention to perform Love Story in cities around the world with a jazz orchestra, to record the soundtrack and that the show be adapted for the big screen.
